LeWi - short for Lena Widgar, which became my nickname from school because we were so many Lena´s at the same time. Simple and good signature.
Even as a child I loved drawing clothes for cutout doll and sewing small clothes. I also tried crocheting; what was supposed to be a flat potholder instead became a round hat for my troll. You have to solve the problems as you go...
My interest in crafts and design has always been a driving force, and it grew even more when I got to try the lovely merino wool in a knitted jacket in Gotland. That experience inspired me to work with this fantastic wool, and today I am a proud producer of my own wool fabrics, using a knitting machine.
I started Lewi Design to make my dream come true. My goal was and is to create unique and sustainable products that combine traditional craftsmanship with modern aesthetics. I run the company alone but am happy to collaborate with other small business owners. My focus is on natural materials, environmental friendliness and 'Slow fashion'. I strive to create clothes that are both practical, comfortable and stylish, perfect for both everyday and festive occasions. By running my own business, I can explore different materials and techniques, and offer products that reflect my vision of quality and creativity.
In order to offer a wider range of beautiful, practical and timeless products from other artisans and small businesses, I started House of LÅ, while LeWi Design stands for my own production.
